Natural Horse tail

Following time-honoured tradition, the Nº2 mattress is filled with millions of natural micro springs courtesy of swathes of horse tail hair, teased and laid by hand.

Fine tuned Pocket springs

Inside the Nº2, hand-tied, 7.5-turn pocket springs are encased in natural Calico. We make our own springs in-house in 3 different tensions – soft, medium and firm. We have found 7.5 turns to be the optimum number to give the right support and comfort level.

Hand-slipping

Hand-slipped piped closure and hand-side stitching. We secure the springs and close the mattress by hand. It takes time, but it gives a better end result. We also tuft our mattresses by hand due to the sheer quantity of materials used and to help stop fillings from moving around too much.

One Piece or two

Our Nº2 mattress is available as a one-piece or zipped pair* depending on your preference. A zipped pair makes for easier turning and reduces movement across the bed, but some people prefer a one-piece mattress. *excludes double.

Buying Guide

Good sleep starts with the right bed, but there are several factors to consider when investing in a new one. We’re here to help navigate you through the maze, so you can uncover a lifetime of quality sleep.

The mattress that’s right for you will keep your spine in proper alignment, supporting your body and cradling it along its curves. It will be comfortable and help relieve pressure points, removing the disruption from tossing and turning.

The ideal tension supports each part of your body. When a mattress is too soft, your spine bows downwards, causing aches and stiffness in your lower back. If your mattress is too firm, your shoulders and knees elevate, causing pain and discomfort when you wake up. This is particularly prominent among side sleepers.

Your new mattress needs to be both supporting of your body, as well as being soft enough that your body rests on it comfortably. At Savoir, we understand that these preferences can vary between partners, which is why we offer dual-tension mattresses.

Choosing the perfect mattress size is a matter of individual taste and preference. There’s no one-size-fits-all. After all, we’re all built differently, have different sleeping positions, and have different comfort preferences.

If you’re looking to upgrade your mattress only, the size of your bed base will guide the size you need. It’s worth noting that sizing differs between countries, so ensure you check the dimensions before purchasing a new mattress. If you are an existing Savoir customer, you can contact your nearest showroom, and our team will be able to help you find out the size of your current bed and guide you further.

However, if your sleep needs have inspired you to purchase a new bed altogether, then you have the freedom to choose the size of the mattress that suits you best. We always recommend opting for the biggest size that your bedroom can fit, as additional sleeping space ensures greater comfort.

When considering a new mattress, you may also want to check what’s inside, as the fillings make a difference to comfort and the quality of your sleep. Natural materials such as wool and horsetail are breathable, helping to regulate your temperature by wicking moisture away from the skin. Materials like foam feel hot and don’t disperse moisture in the same way.

All Savoir mattresses are handcrafted from only the finest, natural materials. From layers of hand-laid horse tail to sumptuous cotton, cashmere, and wool, the properties of these materials cannot be replicated with man-made materials.

The most important part of choosing the new mattress is ‘trying it on’. Although the idea of quickly searching and purchasing online is inarguably tempting, nothing can compare to trying the mattress yourself in person. Think of it as an investment in your future, because a good mattress will see you sleeping comfortably for at least the next 10 years.

You can visit your nearest showroom, where one of our Sleep Specialists will assist you in finding the right fit. As you lie down on the mattress, pay attention to the three most important features: comfort, support, and space. The best mattress for you is the one that best fulfils the combination of these needs. If you sleep with a partner, bring that person with you to test out the mattresses so that you can find the tension that works for you both.
